TransPak’s Kevin and Sarah Marchetti to Present at Poly Pack Symposium

The TransPak team at Poly Pack Symposium in 2023

Siblings Return to Their Alma Mater to Speak on Sustainable Packaging

As we look toward the future, there is increasing urgency to chart a path to reduce packaging’s environmental impact. This year’s Poly Pack Symposium focuses on how packaging professionals and innovators are taking steps towards this more sustainable future.

TransPak employees and siblings Kevin and Sarah Marchetti will return to their alma mater, Cal Poly, as guest speakers at the Poly Pack Symposium this Thursday, February 22.

Welcome to TransPak, Kevin Marchetti

Kevin Marchetti joined TransPak last October as a Packaging Design Engineer based in Penang, Malaysia, where he supports Asia-based packaging initiatives.

With over seven years of experience in the industry, fluency in multiple languages (Mandarin and Thai), and a commitment to helping customers reduce their carbon footprint, Kevin is a welcome new addition and asset to the TransPak team. We’re thrilled he will be representing the company at the upcoming Poly Pack Symposium.

TransPak’s Sustainability Initiatives

The symposium’s theme this year is reducing packaging’s environmental impact, and Kevin will speak to the numerous initiatives that TransPak is working on to meet our ambitious sustainability goals. Below are a few of the sustainability focal points in Kevin’s upcoming presentation:

1. TransPak’s Crate Refurbishment Program

Kevin is passionate about creative solutions to reuse and reduce packaging whenever possible. At the symposium, Kevin will be discussing’s TransPak’s reusable crate program. This RRR system developed by TransPak refurbishes and reuses crates, reducing the need for virgin packaging materials.

Crate refurbishment is crucial for reducing CO2 emissions. That’s why TransPak is focused on developing local ecosystems for our crates, so that once they arrive in destinations like Malaysia, customers can continuously reuse them.  When a customer’s shipment is complete and they no longer need their crate, the TransPak logistics department arranges to get the crate back to a TransPak facility where our team will refurbish and store it for later use. In the process, TransPak saves countless trees from being cut down and removes the need for shipment across the globe. By keeping the crates local, TransPak significantly reduces carbon emissions.

2. TransPak’s Carbon Point Tool

TransPak is developing a tool to capture environmental data at the start of any packaging design by incorporating a carbon point system. Carbon point calculations enable our design engineers to baseline an initial environmental impact “score,” quickly identify key CO2 outliers, and take steps to reduce their use in the design or replace it with a lower impact equivalent. With TransPak’s proprietary carbon calculator tool, customers can quantify and minimize their environmental impact.

3. Max Vehicle Fill

Have you ever played Tetris? Kevin Marchetti and TransPak’s design engineers play Tetris every day to reduce CO2 emissions. By utilizing special software, our designers allow customers to fill a shipping container or a truck to fit as many packages as possible. This reduces the carbon footprint of orders by minimizing the number of shipments needed for fulfillment.
